Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) sits about 35 km north-east of central Paris. After a long flight, the way you cover that last stretch makes a real difference: some options are cheap but involve stairs, crowded trains and connections; others take you door to door.

Option 1: the RER B train
The RER B commuter line runs from the CDG Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 stations to Gare du Nord, Châtelet–Les Halles and Saint-Michel. It is the cheapest option and usually the quickest to the city centre when traffic is heavy.
Since 2025 the airport journey requires the dedicated “Paris Région ↔ Aéroports” ticket, priced at €14 for an adult in 2026. There is no paper version: it has to be loaded onto a Navigo Easy card, the official transport app or a phone wallet.
- Trains are frequent but can be very crowded at rush hour, with little room for suitcases.
- Most hotels still require a metro connection or a walk from the RER station.
- Works and strikes occasionally disrupt the line — check before you travel.
Option 2: the official Paris taxi
Licensed Paris taxis charge a fixed fare set by the Paris police prefecture between CDG and the city: €56 to the Right Bank and €65 to the Left Bank of the Seine. The fixed fare only applies to addresses inside Paris; beyond the city limits the meter runs.
Always use the official taxi rank outside arrivals and ignore anyone offering a ride inside the terminal — unlicensed drivers are a well-known problem at Paris airports.

Option 3: ride-hailing apps
Uber, Bolt and similar apps operate at CDG from designated pick-up zones. Prices change with demand, so the fare can climb well above the taxi rate on busy evenings, and you will need mobile data to order and meet the car.
